New Year, Smart Moves: TFSA Planning & New Faces at BlueSky

Perspectives From BlueSky – A note from Jim & Cory

As we reflect on the past year and our current market position, the volatility we experienced earlier in 2025 reminds us of a topic we often discuss: how we view volatility as an opportunity. Short-term swings can feel unsettling, but it is part of the price to pay for long-term investing success. Looking back over the last several years, coming out of the downturn in 2022, we have seen markets return to all time highs through 2024 and 2025. Staying invested has proven to be an effective strategy once again.

Looking ahead, it’s also a great time to think about TFSA planning. The contribution limit for 2026 is $7,000, bringing the total available room to $109,000 for those of you who were 18 when the TFSA was first created. There is no better plan for tax efficiency than the TFSA. If you have the room and means available to you, it is important that you continue to take advantage of the opportunity it provides for long term tax-free growth. Although the name says Tax Free Savings Account, we view it as a Tax Free Investment Account to help you build long term wealth for you and your family for the years to come.

BlueSky Spotlight

We are pleased to introduce our newest team members, Roman Bondarenko and Rhylynn Wahl, who have recently joined our office. We’re excited to welcome them to the BlueSky team and look forward to the experience, energy, and fresh perspectives they bring as we continue to grow.

Roman brings a unique blend of experience from both the financial and automotive industries, providing a well-rounded, practical approach to bridging business operations with client needs. Outside of work, he’s a true car enthusiast and an avid home chef - having proudly won every chili cook-off he’s entered! Roman will be a valuable addition to the team as we continue to deliver exceptional support to our clients.

Rhylynn recently completed her bachelor’s degree in computer science at the University of Regina. She brings a strong technical background that will support our ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and client service. Outside of the office, Rhylynn enjoys spending time with her dog and following hockey—though she’s keeping her favourite team a secret from Cory (Hint: it’s not the Toronto Maple Leafs). Rhylynn will be a valuable addition to our office as we continue delivering the high level of service and support our clients expect.

Please join us in welcoming Roman and Rhylynn to BlueSky Financial Planning, as we look forward to the valuable contributions they will make to our clients, our team, and the continued growth of our firm.
